What is Whole Body Cryotherapy?
With whole body cryotherapy (WBC) the body is exposed to ultra-low temperatures (-200 to -240 °F) in a cryogenic chamber. A person is placed in the cryochamber for a short duration of 1.5-3 minutes where their skin’s surface temperature is significantly lowered through the use of liquid nitrogen which stimulates receptors producing various medical benefits.
What Are the Benefits?
Pain Relief/Injury
  • Reduces chronic pain

  • Reduces chronic inflammation
  •
Improves recovery & muscular fatigue

  • Pain relief from joint disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis & fibromyalgia
Beauty
  •
Reduces signs of aging
  •
Improves skin condition
  • Reduces cellulite
  •
Increases metabolism (studies suggest between 500-800 calories can be burnt as a response from one WBC session).
Sports Therapy
  • Inhibits inflammation

  • Decreases injury recovery time

  • Reduces delayed onset muscle soreness (DOMS)
  •
Enhances energy and endorphin release

Mental Health
  • Improves mood
  • Reduces stress levels

  • Decreases depression

  • Benefits seen in sleeping disorders
What to Expect With Cryotheraphy
As you enter the Cryotherapy Chamber the sudden drop in heat stimulates the temperature receptors, prompting the brain to transmit messages throughout the body. This withdraws blood from the body's core to try to regulate the temperature.

When you exit the Cryotherapy Chamber, blood is pumped vigorously around the body, which in turn enhances the oxygen supply and removal of toxins. The cold also triggers the nervous system to release feel-good endorphins, plus the body's natural anti-inflammatory reaction to extreme cold results in a pain reduction.
The Step-by-Step Process
  • Be completely DRY prior to entering the Cryotherapy Chamber!
  • Disrobe and wear DRY socks/shoes, gloves, undergarments or shorts;
  • Each treatment only lasts up to 3 minutes while the body is enveloped by hyper-cooled air at -220ºF (-140ºC);
  • The Cryo-technician will elevate you so your head is always out of the chamber!
  • During this session the cold air penetrates just 0.5mm into the skin, causing the skin's surface to cool to 30ºF;
FAQ
Is it safe?
Yes. Single person direct injection and multi-person walk-in cryo chambers have been used for the past 30+ years without any severe adverse reaction ever recorded. Problems have only arisen if a client steps into the machine with wet clothing, especially wet socks, as water will freeze immediately at these temperatures. The advantage of the single person chambers is that lower temperatures can be achieved. Most studies and publications have been done with this type of chamber. The nitrogen being used to cool these chambers is the same nitrogen that makes up the air we breathe (actually 78% of it).

Is it cold??
Yes, a single session you can get to -200 to -300 degrees, this is a dry cold not a liquid cold. An ice bath feels way colder yet only reach's the temperature of 32 degrees. Although the temperature is very cold the session only lasts for 3:00 minutes. By the time it gets cold you are almost done. What we have found is most people who have tried WBC find it very relaxing a feel like it wasn't that cold!
